Dataharvest and News Impact this week
Hello, hacks and hackers! This week there is a free virtual News Impact Summit on building trust in media through data journalism in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The summit will take place from November 24-26 and you can register for it here. It's also the last week for EIJC / Dataharvest.
Happening this week:
Worth a read:
- Convoca, an investigative nonprofit newsroom in Peru, is using an interactive comic format to tell stories about how poisoning from heavy metals is affecting people during the pandemic
- With Twitter launching Fleets, it’s not only copying nearly every other social media giant’s pivot toward a short, fleeting content stream, but exacerbating problems Twitter already has with moderating content
- Journalists are meant to serve their communities, so rather than thinking of themselves as detached observers, journalists could benefit from thinking of themselves “as one element within an interconnected ecosystem of social services”
