Greetings, hacks and hackers! Code for Africa just launched their new data tool PesaYetu.

PesaYetu helps journalists, researchers and activists in Kenya obtain county-level datasets and visualizations.

Nieman Lab’s monthly journalism research newsletter highlighted a study that looked at how journalists covered the 2016 U.S. presidential election on Twitter compared to their articles and found that journalists were likely to use more cognitive biases in tweets.
A GitHub user meticulously documented their experience learning R over a year into a 30,000 word document indexed by topic that details strengths and pitfalls of the language.
The Sigma Awards, which lauds the best data journalism from around the world, announced 12 projects as its winners this year from 603 entries in 76 countries. Some of the founders compiled data journalism lessons they learned from going through the entries.
